PETA and (certain) obnoxious Chattanoogans....

So today was the "nude" PETA demonstration at Miller Plaza.

You know what was funny (besides the gaggle of guys hanging around waiting for a peek)? The PETA folks were actually less obnoxious than the bystanders. (One guy in particular was really starting to creep me out.) They took the stares, taunts, and general derision with smiles and patience.

I'm not a fan of their methods (although I think they do make some good points when they finally get around to talking about the actual issues), but I do give them props for doing what they came to do without getting sucked into a shouting match.

yes I'm sure they really made a difference, no wonder people think they are such a joke.

When I was a younger activist hellion, I lost all respect for PETA when they launched a huge campaign to make the Green Bay Packers (meat-packers) change their name to green bay pickers (veggies and fruit). I was distressed that they actually used money to send me a postcard to appeal to the awful eat meating football team.
Of course, as an adult, I just think they are extremists.
