Kid in Coolidge Park Fountains (POTD)

Photo of the Day:

This kid was playing 'stomp the water jets' in the fountains at Coolidge Park. The photo was taken around 5:30pm with the sun in the background, so it's the strong backlighting that really makes the individual water droplets stand out.

There are always some great shot opportunities around there, but the trick is to avoid giving off the 'creepy guy with a camera taking pictures of other people's kids' vibe.

Photo Stats:

Date Taken: 2005-05-01 17:26:22
Aperture: f/5.0
ISO: 100
Focal Length: 75mm (guess: 117mm in 35mm)
Exposure Time: 0.0012s (1/800)

'Cause there's not an 18 year old in sight...

Here's an interesting take on the source of the problems that Club Fathom has been having lately.

It's a song called "The People in the Red Room."

PETA and (certain) obnoxious Chattanoogans....

So today was the "nude" PETA demonstration at Miller Plaza.

You know what was funny (besides the gaggle of guys hanging around waiting for a peek)? The PETA folks were actually less obnoxious than the bystanders. (One guy in particular was really starting to creep me out.) They took the stares, taunts, and general derision with smiles and patience.

I'm not a fan of their methods (although I think they do make some good points when they finally get around to talking about the actual issues), but I do give them props for doing what they came to do without getting sucked into a shouting match.

Well, you can turn that Hummer into a zero emissions vehicle for only $160...no tools required.

How's that for a slice of fried gold?

If you haven't seen it yet, stop what you're doing and go rent Shaun of the Dead

It is without question one of the funniest movies I have ever seen.

Riverbend Photos - Behind the Scenes

These are a few of my favorite 'behind-the-scenes' candids from Riverbend...check out the upcoming issue of the Pulse for more like this.

Audio tech mixing the Michael McDonald/CSO show Sunday night.

Lighting tech running the light boards for the Coca-Cola Stage.

Camera used to shoot the main closeup shot on the Coke Stage.

The audio board at the Budweiser Stage.

Random audio cables on the Budweiser Stage.

Excercise is good for you...or so they tell me.

You know those times when you're walking somewhere and by the time you realize you should have driven you're already so far that to go back and get your car would be pointless?

Yeah...that happened to me today.

So tonight was good....but I have a crapload of pictures to go through. I made it to Riverbend in time to catch the last half of the California Guitar Trio (with Tony Levin). And let me just say....they have a ridiculous amount of talent.

I was able to get to the sidestage tonight for the Cheap Trick show (finally!!), so some great pics came out of that. Then I headed over to the Budweiser tent to catch the Unsatisfied show.

I love shooting those guys because they love their audience....performers with that kind of intensity and passion are rare, even in local/indie/'doin' it for the love of the music' circles.

Lots of pics will be coming soon....check my photography page for updates.

And finally...apparently I'm going to Hell.

According to the signs being held by the street corner preachers outside the Riverbend gates tonight, "Sports Fans," "Liberals," "Demoncrats," "Rich People," and "Rock and Rollers," (among others) are on their way to the bad place.

I noticed that "Hypocritical Pharisees" wasn't on the list anywhere. Interesting.
