Frist Changes Course on Stem Cells

This is very interesting.

A great move for a potiential presidential candidate. He's not moving too far from his pro-life base, but far enough to draw in some of those all-important moderates. (And this is definitely the time to start pulling away from Bush.)

All men think they're superheroes

The below excerpt was taken from, "I'm Telling You for the Last Time," by Jerry Seinfeld. I took the photo driving home yesterday on Amnicola.

You be the judge.

"Here's the thing on men, I'm gonna give it to you now. All men think of themselves as kind of low-level super-heroes... in their own environment. When men are growing up and they're reading about Batman, Spiderman, Superman, these aren't fantasies. These are options. This is the way men really look at their own lives. I'm not even supposed to be telling you this. I'll give you a perfect example of what I'm talking about, did you ever see a guy moving a mattress tied to the roof of his car. He's out on the highway with this thing, he's always got the arm out the window, holding the mattress too, right ? Whatever he's rigged up there, he's always helping along with the arm. This is classic male idiot super-hero thinking. This moron actually believes that if the wind catches this huge rectangle at 70 miles an hour, "I got it, I got it. Don't worry about it. I'm using my... arm !".

'Someone got the Boot' - PotD

I didn't even know Chattanooga used "the boot," but I happened to notice this one parked downtown on Saturday, so I grabbed my camera and snapped a couple shots out of my passenger window, much to the annoyance of the woman behind me. (sorry.)

I love France, but Chirac is an idiot.*

"The only thing [the British] have ever given European farming is mad cow."
- Jacques Chirac

Brilliant.

The day before they are to be hosted by the British for the G8 Summit. And meanwhile, the Paris/2012 Olympics team are trying to prove to the world that they are the right place to host the Games.

*The fact that Chirac is an idiot is a sentiment shared by many of the Parisians I spoke to last year when I was there shooting a documentary.

Geeks vs. the World

Apparently the new trend for geeks is to attack things that most people enjoy (Live8 and the ONE Campaign, for example), thereby proving to the rest of us that they, through their infinite wisdom, have somehow seen past what the rest of us fools missed, and we should therefore bow before them in grateful humility.

There's nothing more annoying than a lazy person complaining about the fruitlessness of someone else's work. If you don't like it, get off your butts and do something different.
